Melinda M. Fraker de Fonte
Biography
An adult educator for nearly 15 years, Ms. Melinda Fraker de Fonte is currently an Instructional Program Coordinator for the Adult Education Pathways Department, Workforce Development and Continuing Education Division at Harrisburg Area Community College where she coordinates the Language Institute program at multiple HACC campuses which offers ESL, Spanish GED Test Preparation, US Citizenship Preparation and workplace ESL and Spanish training for local companies and organizations. Utilizing over five years of previous experience working as a caseworker for the PA Department of Welfare, Ms. Fraker de Fonte also offers advising and transition services to the ESL students. Her rich teaching experience began with the Lincoln Intermediate Unit #13 where she taught ESL and GED in both the community and corrections settings for several years. Before working in her current capacity with the college, fluent in Spanish, Ms. Fraker de Fonte taught non-credit Spanish at the Gettysburg campus of HACC for six years. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in English and Spanish from Messiah College in Grantham, PA where she also completed an ESL internship for Immigration and Refugee services. She has also completed Master’s degree credits in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in teachingEnglish as a second language from McDaniel College in Westminster, MD.
